Hunger in Greece

The face of hunger in bankrupt Greece. I saw 2 things that shocked me:

1) At the local Whole Food's market, I saw an elderly lady, as elegant as a British aristocrat. I asked her if she needed anything and with great humility she told me she couldn't buy food because her pension was late. I gave her something of course. I've never seen her since, I do hope she's well
2) I went to another supermarket today. A young girl gave me a blue bag. What I did was to fill it up with essentials, some Nacho chips for the kids. I paid and gave it to the charity for the hungry.

Why has Greece come to this point ?
