The wind, waves, and currents have revealed wrecks in Lake Michigan. Sixteen wrecks are documented in the Manitou Passage State Underwater Preserve, near Michigan's Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The public is asked to notify the authorities if they find a shipwreck and not to disturb them. The sites are protected under state law.
