Prayer without Action

What is prayer without action? I often think of this when I’m in the midst of conversation with someone about their prayers. Someone dear to my heart, who prays every day, told me she added the request of receiving a billion dollars. My first reaction was shock, then thinking, Wow, that is ridiculous! My next thought was why? Why is it ridiculous to ask for a billion dollars when the Universe is so plentiful, full of abundant good?

There is no difference from manifesting one dollar to one billion dollars is there? This led me to thoughts of action. I asked my loved one, “Do you buy a lotto ticket?”

She answered, “No.”

I asked, “Are you starting a business?”

She shook her head.

I shrugged and said, “Well, then how do you expect to receive the billion dollars?”

She replied, “I don’t know. All I know is that I asked for it, so I know it’s coming.”

Who am I to argue with such unquestioningly faith?

But still I wondered, What is prayer without action? If you pray for something, do you feel that the prayer itself is all the action you need to perform or is there some other action you should take in order to help the Universe manifest your request? If you were praying for a job, it would stand to reason that you would still need to look for one right? Unless you believe that you can sit on your couch and wait for someone to ring your doorbell and offer you the job of your dreams.

In my mind, my loved one would be better served to help the Universe fulfill the prayer by at least buying a lotto ticket every now and then. Especially for those big jackpots that are well over five hundred million dollars. It is my opinion that she needs to take some type of action toward fulfilling her request. It’s wonderful that she has the belief that it is going to happen, but give the Universe the means to provide.

Take some type of action toward your prayer request. If you need a job, pray for one, and then look for one. You’ll be led down the right path to the job you’ve been praying for. If it’s money, first start by being grateful for the money that you have. If you see your wallet empty, imagine it full of money. I took a suggestion from something I read and put play money in my wallet. My subconscious mind doesn’t know its play money when I looked at it. It only knows that my wallet is full of money all of the time. I imagined it being real. I’d even count it. Do the same. Get used to seeing money in your wallet. Soon enough, it will manifest and become real.

I give thanks that my rent is paid, my bills are paid and that I can make these payments easily and effortlessly. If you continue to think of things as a chore or with fear, they will continue to be hard things for you to do. If you don’t have the money to pay your rent, write a rent check out anyway, and pray on it. Believe that the money will be provided so you will be able to hand over that rent check to your landlord. Take some type of positive action toward making your prayer come true. The action cements your belief that it will happen and what you prayed for will be manifested quickly. Keep your thoughts positive on your action. Believe it as sure as know the sun is going to rise in the morning and set in the evening.

During a very rough period in my life, my priest told me, "Winter never fails to turn into spring." And so it does. It will for you too.

And to my dear loved one – please buy a lotto ticket! Hm, on second thought, I’m going to buy her one and give it to her.

Happy Holidays!
