Whenever I go ahead and check out a new werewolf book most of the time I see an alpha male of the pack becoming a major, psychopathic douche. Yeah because all romantic men are a bunch of obsessive, psychopathic morons who had mommy problems right? WRONG! So...so wrong!

Not all the alpha men in werewolf books are jerks though, there are those werewolf alphas in literature that are suitable for picking a reasonable mate. But nope, the majority of the stories on here and on wattpad...mainly wattpad have guys who like to abuse female characters. Why? Because abuse is fun!

I think each of the stories like to play Stockholm Syndrome, but most of the stories in the genre like to romanticize it. That is what I don't understand. Yeah there are those stories where the woman actually fights back, but those are rare.

In some stories, the alpha of the pack rejects his mate only for her to go away, become super hot, and all of a sudden he gets horny.

Just...just no.

Because you know? Romance!

It's a recurring, and a disturbing theme plaguing around the werewolf landscape and its getting kind of scary and becoming a little cliche.

The point is that we need more diversity in our characters. Instead of having an abusive, 6-pack alpha, have the alpha be a woman, or a fat guy who plays World of Warcraft, or a politician...or something. Anything to diversify our genre.
