Demonic Possession
So, after careful consideration I have decided my second post will be a review and the book I have chosen to do it on is Demon Road by Derek Landy.
Now I'm going to start off by saying that I don't usually read books that are classed as horror fiction but, like most books, the cover attracted my attention. The blurb sounded interesting so I thought 'why not'.
From the moment I started reading, I was hooked and couldn't put it down. The very first page started with a bang and the rest of the book didn't slow even once, a definite plus for my choices of reading material.
It also helped that our main character, 16 year old Amber is so relateable. Most teenagers feel somewhat if not very awkward and alienated at some point and Amber is no different. Landy makes her sound like an ordinary, boring and unattractive girl which I personally was as a youngster (all those years ago) which is a fantastic change to the perfect and well liked characters we are so used to seeing today. She goes through changes just like any othe adolescent but hers are a little more...awesome!
Like I said before, I'm not normally a horror person but Demon Road had just enough to be enticing but not enough to make you want to bring up lunch and dinner. Definitelly not Stephen King but personally, this is way better.
Nothing and no one could make me put this book down, not even my own manuscripts that are waiting to be written. I have actually done something that I don't normally do with books nowadays...I have read it again. Shocking!
The next in the series comes out early 2016 and I can't wait. The moment it hits the shelves, a copy will be added to my library as it should be to any fan of the Supernatural and Horror genres.
Thanks Derek for a great read. Five Stars!!!
