So I’m doing a thing

Howdy, folks! As the title of this blog entry implies, I am doing a thing. What sort of thing, you ask? Well, a writing thing, of course!

A couple years back, I had an intense and epic dream about flying into space in a starfighter and encountering a seemingly invisible space battle in orbit. After I woke up and jotted the dream down, a whole mythology started to form and, thus, the Hand Trilogy was conceived. Now, I’ve written a fair bit of it (about 30K words of the first book and a little more than that of the second) but sort of set it aside these last few years. But, that is about to change.

Some of you may have heard of the website Inkshares. They allow authors to submit book ideas and manuscripts and set pre-order goals and if the goals are met, the books are published and distributed. This month, the Nerdist folks announced a writing contest, looking for the top five most pre-ordered space operas. And in that, I saw an opportunity. I’ve said before, I am a great starter but a terrible finisher. I have loads of unfinished projects in the works. But this contest gives me a deadline. And maybe with a deadline pushing me to work, this thing will actually get finished.

So, I’d like to formally announce that book 1 of the Hand Trilogy, titled Hand of Fate, is officially open to pre-order on Inkshares! I’ll make a follow-up post later today with details on the series itself, including bits of background on the mythology of the universe. But in the mean time, if you guys could please pre-order and/or share my project page on Inkshares with people who may be interested in the book, I’d be really appreciative. Even just following my profile would help a lot. The five entries with the most pre-orders are the ones that win the contest, so I really need your support. Thank you all in advance. You guys rock!
