message 31: by Donna (new)

Donna Aschebrock I really loved this book but I wouldn't recommend it for a middle school aged student. It is creepy.

message 34: by Charms (new)

Charms I just finished it!! I didn’t think it had much nightmare material until I had to go to the bathroom at 3am and was very much creeped the hell out. Kept looking behind my back in the hallway.

Great book! I was hooked from beginning to end, loved the world-building and all the lote details.

message 35: by Issabelle (new)

Issabelle IS THIS REALLY WHAT LITERATURE IS COMING TO? DARK, DISTURBING BOOKS WITH NO MEANING OR COMPELLING PROSE? Honestly, this book was so disturbing. I was a bit appalled by how dark the author's writing is, and honestly it's not really even elegantly or masterfully written. I was hoping to pick up this book and be entertained by its paranormally quirkness not disturbed by murdered, decomposing corpse children, icky lustfulness and people being skinned. Please do not read, as it was I skipped most of the middle section hoping it would get considerably better near the end only to find it was ten times worse. Seriously disturbed by the lack of interesting writting and content that leaves you wanting to puke and never read a book anything like this again.

message 36: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa I'd love for you to continue to betray and terrify us.

message 37: by Madison (new)

Madison Fowler yeah it sucks

message 38: by Tina (new)

Tina It’s a great story. Worth the nightmares :-)

message 39: by Brittany (new)

Brittany I loved this dark disturbing world that you created and it merged a much loved older faerie tale into the modern age. Beautifully done and I think it should truly make people think how far would you go for the ones you love? 💜

message 40: by Lynsey (new)

Lynsey Walker FABULOUS book! And please tell me that when Tyler says he’s ridiculously good looking it’s a reference to Zoolander!

message 41: by Em (new)

Em Please write many more! This is the most weirdly wonderful book I've read in ages & it reads like wildfire. I canceled all my plans on Saturday so that I could sit & read it in one sitting.

message 42: by Hazel (new)

Hazel This book is soo amazing! Thank you so much!!
Grey is my fav character, who is yours??

message 43: by Renee (new)

Renee I adored this book and bought a copy for MY sister. The magic in the book was oblique enough to keep me guessing as it only vaguely resembles anything familiar, with lots of fresh eeriness. It was unsettling in the best way. Here is a world we inhabit and another that we can identify. Both are terrifying in their own ways and have their own dangers and pitfalls. I found myself identifying with all of the sisters and was able to see the story and feel the anxiousness (or lack of) through each of their eyes.

I think that people that are overly creeped out or unsatisfied are missing the point. The “other” world is unknowable and you cannot expect the “others” to operate with human morals or motives. It becomes interesting when the others and humans collide in an inextricable way, and what happens trying to find a balance.

I was immediately drawn in by the idea that someone had to solve the mystery of themselves and their most beloved family. When the clues are there but just out of reach. The choices made to find who you wish to be. The ideas about what love is, and what lengths we will go to in order to keep it, even at a terrible cost.

I would also LOVE a sequel/adjacent story from this world. Many of my favorite stories have villains you can fall in love with, and this book has one that is unforgettable.

message 44: by Sage (new)

Sage theres gonna be a sequel. right???? i have lots of questions

message 45: by Kate (new)

Kate Don’t know how this book ended up at my house. Don’t remember buying it….. couldn’t put it down once I picked it up though. I need to know who they were before!!!! If they were all three on the decision making!!!

message 46: by A. (new)

A. PUH-LEASE tell me there's a sequel!!! I would love to know who they were prior to the revel as well. That twist blew my mind, and I may have shed a tear for Gabe.

message 47: by Nayab (new)

Nayab Neeeeeed a sequel 😭😭😭😭😭

message 48: by Annette (new)

Annette Loved it!!! I wanna know what happens next!!!!

message 49: by Meghan (new)

Meghan I REALLY enjoyed this. Some of the twists I predicted, but they will nonetheless perfect plot choices. You really killed it with making the bad characters sympathetic.

message 50: by Pravina (new)

Pravina Sequel plss!
