That is worrisome! I hope she contacts you.

I still love and read JAFF almost exclusively, and also really admire the members of this group. God bless Y'all.

I'm so glad our group gives you a cozy place to hang out. No worries if you have to downscale. Just enjoy your books and book friends. :)

I never used to get any DM's there, or, like one every three years or so, but now there's several every week and usually they're from someone with stilted grammar, claiming to be "a concept artist", offering their services, and they always want me to contact them on some other platform.
I mean I suppose some of them could be real artists. But I doubt it. I went through the profile of one of them and he/she/they had left several adoring reviews on so many stories in so many different genres that had been published so recently that they certainly could not have had the time to read them all, like they claimed.

Someone wants paid for promoting, editing, whatevering.

I can't tell if there is a difference between the two aside from the color of the cover?

From what I can tell, they are the same, except the one with the blue cover says it is 216 pages and the green cover says 214. They also have different publication dates.
The blue one is also available in KU unlike the green one.

The Blue Cover includes Kindle.
I read it -- it's actually pretty good!

Thanks! It seems really unique

Sydney Saliers usually posts on FF, but she hasn't been around for a while. Is anyone friendly with her? Just hoping she's ok.
Speaking of FF, RoniAllen is back with a new story!

Today he finally reveals, (don't ask me why he needed to keep it so secret) cancer-in his throat.
Thank goodness its small and with radiation the prognosis is good.
I can't really wrap my head around it, and all I keep thinking is, my poor Mom. She didn't even tell her sister. that is a horrible burden to carry, with no mental or emotional support.

Sorry to hear this Sam!
My Dad also had cancer in his throat and had radiation. It went away but his saliva glands were fried and his mouth went dry a lot.
My Dad was bad about health care and did not have yearly check-ups to make sure no cancer came back. Several years later he died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Make sure your Dad keeps up with his health checks and best wishes to your family.

Sometimes it's hardest to share the truly awful things, those that frighten us the most.
My aunt also had throat cancer and went on to live a long and happy life after treatment.

I do hope the treatment goes well and that you are able to keep both of your parents well topped up with their books to keep them amused.
Best wishes to you all.

I know you will be a support to your parents now and always.
I hope his treatment helps and good health returns.

Your encouraging words mean so much. We will have more information about his treatment next week. It will be a tough 6 weeks, but we are all very hopeful.

Hugs, lady!

This week we get his schedule for radiation.
Hugs everyone <3

Now I wait.
It's so weird. Their guidelines are, you have to write the little caveat. but then they penalize your review for writing it!

Was this on Amazon or goodreads?

Last year, I had the best topic for my YTD reading list 'Books I scored in 2024'. Yeah, like that worked out. Then, my computer ate my document listing what I had read. It took several months before I was able to retrieve it.
I became inundated with RL issues and hadn't posted for several months. I finally gave up. I tried, but I didn't make my reading level. I thought I'd do better this year, but, as yet, I have not posted my first level. Good grief. LOL! I'll get there one of these days, and then you will be inundated with my posts. So, hang on.
Blessings, to everyone who is experiencing problems, whether with immediate family or the elder generation.

The Amazon Guidelines actually do not mention putting in any disclaimer.

This is the closest I could find that mentions ARCs:
It’s OK to review a free or discounted book (advanced reader copy) that you received from an author or publisher. However, they can’t require a review in exchange or try to influence the review.
I am having the same experience posting reviews as Jeanne: either something is accepted in a few minutes or it takes days.
Sam, what review of yours was rejected?

I edited it a tad and removed that disclaimer and resubmitted it. That's when it got approved within minutes.
Jeanne, I agree. I try to keep my reviews as short as possible, while giving a bit of tease and my takeaway.
On the other hand, my review for Follow the Drum, which took longer to be approved, but was in the end, also had this line - I received a free copy for my honest opinion.
I was positive I'd have to try and repost it.
So. Weird!

Thank you, Jeanne.
You are so busy, I don't know how you find the time to read. I hope things are going well for you.

So lovely to "hear" from you Jeanne - I was thinking only the other day that I hadn't seen you in action recently. Blessings to you.

Too bad about RL giving you a kick in the pants lately. Glad you could stop by for a bit and visit with us, Jeanne! :)

I hear you, but it doesn't stop me from adding to it all the time!

Lydia perhaps?
Here is our own virtual social space in the group where you can update members on life events, encourage through happy and sad times, and check in with one another about real life.
This is optional and members are by no means obligated. Share what you are comfortable with.
Thank you, Marlene, for suggesting both topic and topic title. :)
