I enjoyed one of Maeve Binchy’s books many years ago. I have to read some more of hers.
Yes - "women's fiction" was always looked down upon and classed as low-brow - because it was concerned with family, relationships, children, and women's work. How wrong!
Glad you enjoyed these stories, Diane. I read many of her books way back but really have the urge to revisit them.
I love Maeve. Discovered her in my late 20s (many moons ago!) and I am still drawn to her books. She is like a warm cuppa tea for me! ☘️
Antoinette, revisiting her at this point might be a good thing.
Angela, I do think you would enjoy her.

"Copied and pasted" for possible future use, Diane.
I love short stories, and I’m adding this collection. I had the same idea about Binchy. Glad it’s not true! Terrific review!
I always loved her. Some people know how to capture a slice of life, and she was one of them. Glad you got to her, Diane.
I have overlooked her works for the very same reason as you, Diane. I love a solid short story collection, especially from an author I haven't read yet. Thank you for bringing this one to my attention.
I've been convinced recently that I need to read Binchy. You've reinforced that hunch, Diane! Relatable works for me :) Great review!
My friend Roz loved Maeve Binchy; she called her work relationship books. Her favorite authors werre Binchy, Kristen Hannah, and Jodi Picoult. While our taste in books differed, she was one of the warmest, most loving human beings I have ever known. Whenever a review of one of these authors pops up on my feed, I smile and remember her. Thank you, Diane.
I have tried a couple of times to read Hannah and Picoult, but never even finished the books because I felt like they were "formula writers". No doubt it's good for their pocketbooks, but Binchy doesn't impress me that way at all.
