lol I actually am a little alarmed at the proliferation of handsome dukes in books lately. They have become eyeroll worthy. My impression had always been that as the 'top of the pyramid' title in the aristocracy there were only a few old and fat ones around at any given time. But I guess publishing will have it that they were a dime a dozen. As with the contemporary novel's 'billionaire' obsession (they are also apparently around every corner hehe)
Good observations, Desi. I guess it goes back to the Cinderella dream where every woman wants a prince. Of course, I believe that men willing to get down to the nitty gritty and grapple with life are more interesting.
