You see, I'm also a (gay male fiction) writer and I asked just to know if it's a matter of culture or not.
Here (I'm from Brazil, by the way), the male audience normally doesn't like when a female author writes about "their world", if you know what I mean.
It's complicated and I do have some trouble with the "How do you KNOW?" question, because they generally ask this _before_ reading, and that's when the prejudice starts.

Does this mean the lesbian western is happening??

The lesbian book on deck is Rose and Mina in the Love Lessons series. But Rose would definitely put on a hat and some chaps during sex.
