Cornelia, thank you for your answer! I was wondering this too, since I just found a copy of the German edition in the USA and was curious. I have started reading (an English translation of) some of Celan's poems thanks to that opening quote. I actually thought the Celan poem fit the overall tone of the Inkworld better than Silverstein's; it captures the darker side of the Inkworld, while Silverstein's only captures the lighter side of it.
