[close] We’re getting a group together! We all need a little Zola in our lives. Ok, so reading La Bète humaine may actually put a ton of Zola in some of our lives than others. Zola was born in April 1840 and was a naturalist, which was known for its social commentary. He was also known for his involvement in politics, a la his stance through the Dreyfus Affair. So I have to interject an opinion here-he has one of the most beautiful, original gravestones I’ve ever seen although his remains no longer lie under it. Les Rougon-Macquart consists of about 20 volumes and he started on this work around the age of 28. This group has been created to surround ourselves with some of the best French literature ever written. We will read and discuss perhaps gush our feelings into our comments.
