A bit off of topic, but thanks to whoever put the Poldark books in the pool - I couldn't stop and have now read the entire delightful series. I suppose I'd better check out some of the other books now to read.
Susan in NC wrote: "...Good point about the shallow characters, wish I’d seen your comments before I read, wouldn’t have been so bored with the characters! ..."Yes, if you try to take the characters seriously it goes against all I believe about commitments.
#17 Katy LouBook #5
Frenchman's Creek by Daphne du Maurier
4 stars
Go into this one as an escapism adventure, the characters are very shallow as far as real world, but DuMaurier writes well as usual, just don't expect to sympathize with the characters. Otherwise a fun romance/adventure story.
Jenn, I haven't read Cold Comfort Farm, but after reading The Woods In Winter I have added CCF to my reading list.
#17 Kathy LouBook # 4
Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing
5-stars
Great reading, what an adventure!
#17 Katy LouBook #3 The Woods In Winter by Stella Gibbons
Read on my Kindle in a late night sitting. A curious story that is a wonderful description of an odd set of characters. 4-stars.
#17 - Katy LouBook # 2 - Demelza by Winston Graham- 4 Stars
Great read, I really love Demelza and her good impulses. Of course I am now hooked on this series and plan to read the rest leisurely during the rest of the year. I doubt it will take me until December to finish these.
#17 Katy LouBook #1 Ross Poldark - Couldn't put this one down and so I finished it in two days. So glad the next one is on our book pool also. 5-stars.
