35559 โ‰๏ธAn Important Questionโ‰๏ธ

I already mentioned this in the post above, but would like to repeat that from time to time we may need to play tetris with books and move them around to avoid having incomplete spell-outs at the end of the Rounds or simply to make a mini, closer to completion than the rest, move forward.

Could you please let us know if you are OK with this? Thank you!๐Ÿ˜Š

(If not, we accept this of course and try to avoid this as much as possible.)

Happy to see the chatting going on in our thread and fully encourage you to go on! โ˜บ๏ธ

But so that we don't lose sight of info important to the challenge, you can always find the general need-to-know/good-to-know info or links on Page 1 of our team thread. I will try my best to keep the messages/info updated. From time to time, I'm going to repost stuff, but always feel free to ask is something is not clear.

1๏ธโƒฃ๐Ÿ” WORD FOR ROUND 1: DJIBOUTI๐Ÿ” 1๏ธโƒฃ

11 October, 9pm, UK time

๐Ÿ“š 1st BOM of the Challenge:

Masquerade by O.O. Sangoyomi by O.O. Sangoyomi
starts on 16 October Link to BOM Discussion

๐Ÿ“ message 4: RULES + link to the Tracking sheet and Countdown

๐Ÿ“ message 5: BOM Info

๐Ÿ“ message 7: Minis Info

๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ If you are a planner, feel free to add books to the tracking sheet and claim tasks, but not more than 3-4 at a time, please.
Please make sure you also add other options your book works for. Once you finished a book, you can claim another task.

๐ŸŒ‹If you are more of a mood reader it's enough to add the books as you start reading them or finish them, no hurry.

โœ… Karen, Julia and I will try our best to make sure that your books get assigned to claimed tasks, but sometimes, to move forward and for the sake of points, we may need to play tetris, if its OK with you. We will let you know if some more targeted reading is needed, but otherwise will be happy to leave you to follow your own pace and mood. ๐Ÿ˜Š

โž• If you are uncomfortable using spreadsheets, you are welcome to make completion posts in the thread and we will help you adding the books to the sheet. Just make sure you link the right edition of the book you read and list the options the book works for.

โ“Feel free to ask any questions if you something is not clear.

โ—And the MOST IMPORTANT: Have fun and read good books!! ๐Ÿ“š ๐Ÿ˜Š

35559 Also, because listening to John Denver made me feel like maudlin, in case I haven't told you yet... Love Y'All!! ๐Ÿ˜‚โค๏ธ

(Oh my.... no wonder I have kept away from this genre.

As a bloody Hungarian it's enough to have inherited transgenerational and indelilbe genetic pessimism. Top it off with Country Music and you ...get...thoroughly .... destroyed...

Simply lethal. ๐Ÿคฃ)

And dang, why do I remember this only now and not during TT?

This is seriously jaw-dropping! Listened to this with Domi in the morning, gave him a bit of a boost before he made his reluctant way to school. ๐Ÿ˜‰

35559 Thank you Cat, I will create a Country list and will include all your recs and then Domi can pick his own favourites. :)

35559 Lol, too funny.

35559 Country music is not that widely popular in Hungary, though some songs/singers like Dolly & Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers ARE more widely known.

Shhh Mel, Iโ€™m here incognito as a normal team member. Going to be quiet and try to stay under the radar to read."

Oopps, sorry. ๐Ÿคญ Hadn't had too much sleep this week and it starts showing. Better to close shop for today.

35559 Thank you, Sophie, Sammy! ๐Ÿ˜Š

With Domi's current level of English, no strict lyrics controls are necessary, though the other day I refused to translate some Eminem lyrics for him, lol.

Nah, I'm just tired & stupid & was looking at the wrong tab... please just disregard what I wrote on that. Will delete my post, so as not to confuse this issue.

Also, as we have Mods Karen & Sophie on the team, they can always correct me. :))

And all of you, as team members can express your wishes on strategy and tasks and preferred Minis and we will take this into consderation as much as possible. You are not stepping on any toes with this. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cool. I rarely visit the Northeast region, though just this w/e we will travel to Eger & beyond. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I work in Budapest (and used to live there), but currently I live with my family close to my hometown between Budapest and Lake Balaton (it's called Szรฉkesfehรฉrvร r ๐Ÿ˜, basically meaning White Castle, b/c of Roman settlement heritage). My university town is very close to Balaton and we visit often that area as I have friends & relatives living there.

35559 Cool.

I admit I only know Chris Stapleton b/c of his duet with Justin Timberlake. ๐Ÿคญ Love the song Sayin' Something.
15 hours, 17 min ago

35559 I'm sure he will. He's already asleep, but was excited when I told him about your incoming list.

We'll have a pick of some songs to listen to tomorrow. ๐Ÿ˜Š
15 hours, 20 min ago

35559 Oh wow, how exciting, Alysa! Both the travels and the cookbooks/food stuff!

I hope you had a good time on your past visits and that you will be coming again! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Was it in/around Budapest you visited or did you get to some other locations as well?

Concerning past BOM squares & ladders.... that may be the toughest part of the challenge and one requiring very specific reading efforts. Let's see if/how we can manage that.
