Author Scott Burtness created Vampire Books for Blood in 2014. Held annually from 10/1 - 10/31, the event brings authors and publishers of vampire-themed books together for a common goal: to raise funds for the American Red Cross and Canadian Blood Services.

Participants pledge to make a financial donation to the ARC or CBS. It can be an amount per book sold in October, a percentage of royalties earned in October, or a flat amount at the conclusion of the event.

When someone buys a book from a participating author or publisher during the month of October, they know they're helping that author or publisher support the life-saving work of the American Red Cross and Canadian Blood Services.
