A collection of books where a character, who is an author, is subject to pain, peril, or other abuse.

We (the EMK) propose this as a new genre. The requirements are as follows:

* A prominent character in the book is an author. Journalists don't count, as "they are meant to go out there and experience difficult stuff".

* The author character experiences no little amount of pain or peril. This can be infused into the whole book, or happen all at once in one memorable scene.

* The pain or peril must be physical, or real psychological terror, and cannot be mere self pity. This rule shall be known as Lex Knausgård.

* The book cannot be explicitly autobiographic.
