Let me start by saying that I love the idea of this list! Although I know the description says "The less well known the better. Books with thousands of ratings don't need the help of my lists", both Oryx and Crake and North and South were already on this list, so I couldn't resist adding Pride and Prejudice, Wives and Daughters and Sons and Lovers, even though each of them have several thousands of ratings.

Shouldn't the following books be removed, for not quite complying with the 'X and Y' form?Habitual Drunkenness and Insane Drunkards
Baby Insane and the Buddha
Snakes with Wings and Gold-digging Ants
What's So and What Isn't
Over Mintmarks and Hot Repunched Mintmarks
To Have and Have Not
To Love and Be Wise
God and the New Physics
The Past and the Punishments
The City and the Stars
What it is, and How it is Done
A lodestone and a toadstone
To be honest, I'd rather see titles like North and South, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Wives and Daughters and Sons and Lovers on this list than any of the, in my view, more questionable/not quite complying titles above...
P.S.
i didn't add any books with names, like Oscar and Lucinda or Heloise and Abelard and so on, because I wasn't sure they'd comply?
Osiris wrote: "would you really rather see a list of books like 'north and south' 'cup and doll', regardless of any other factor? i am a silly, and honestly appreciate the help. ..."I would, to be honest, but it is not up to me :-). I absolutely love the idea of 'x and y', as it's very original, but then I'm a sucker for this kind of Listopia :-)
Maybe it's an idea to make two different kind of lists? One strictly for 'x and y' and one for the not so strict titles which need more attention?
P.S.
What to do about adding titles with names? Like Oscar and Lucinda and so on? See my earlier message.
As far as 2 names titles...youre going to have to explain why that is an issue. Unless its way to easy to come up them? Are we out of non name titles already? and what about &? I added heraclix & pomp today and it made me happy to do it, but I worried about the fact that it is Names and &. Youre in this too deep now to worry about offering me specific advice. if this could be a fun interactive list with modification, thats what i want to do. i removed a bunch of my own additions that werent strictly x + y because i realized that would be better. and i just say less well known the better. no set limit. and so i think the only issue is: names or not. you are going to have to fill me in on the issue there. ive been out of the list game for too long and havnt yet developed a sense for the subtle ins and outs.
i have no problem with you adding names titles. : )
