"When you've entered your radical female separatist phase and are ready to hurl abuse at anyone with an XY chromosome pairing, these rabid feminist tomes will appeal to the raging she-devil within you. You may want to note that leaving these in a conspicuous place, like on top of your coffee table or sticking out of your beach bag, is the equivalent of citronella for men."—Bibliotherapy, by Nancy Peske and Beverly West

message 1: by Nancy L Owens (new)

Nancy L Owens I voted for the only book on the list which i have read: The Women's Room. I read it decades ago but remember plot points from it--one sign of a good book. I think i shall add another book from decades ago which i read in "one sitting" with breaks for food, beer, and the bathroom: Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady: A Memoir by Florence King. It has poignancy AND laugh out loud moments. Highly recommended.

Nancy L Owens After voting on one book on the list and then adding another one: Need i point out that there are TWO books by Stephen King, a man, on the list. As i have read neither of them i shall maintain an open mind.

message 3: by Rosa (new)

Rosa Thanks for voting!
And yes, there ARE two books by Stephen King on the list. Dolores Claiborne isn't as male-repelling as some of the others on this list, but Nancy and Bev put it in that section of Bibliotherapy. Gerald's Game is more so.
