Kia ora, hello, welcome to the 2018: What New Zealanders have read so far this year list!

Here are some dos and don'ts for this list:

Dos:
If you're a New Zealander, live in New Zealand, and/or were born in New Zealand, DO add the books you've read in 2018 here. Just the books read in 2018 though, no other years. If you want to 'bookmark' this list, there are two ways to do it, either 'Like' the list and come back when you've finished a book, or make your first 'vote' the book that you are currently reading that you will definitely finish in 2018.

Do converse with other kiwis here by adding your (polite) comments in the comments section at the bottom of the page.

Do help this list grow strong by inviting your fellow kiwis to add their 2018 books read here.

Don'ts:
Don't vote on this list if you are NOT a person either living in or born in New Zealand. We shouldn't have to ask this, but we've had numskulls who clearly can't read do this on other lists before.

Don't self-promote or get a friend/colleague/publishing/marketing/scamming person to vote for your books simply because you want to promote them. We don't like it, won't tolerate it, and believe me it is the fastest way to NOT get your book read by list users. Don't be stupid.

Don't 'vote' by simply clicking in the columns of books read. Please click on 'Add Books To This List' and add only the books you've read in 2018 from your list of books read. This is important as we like to see what is the most popular edition of a book read - we want to know if you had paperback, hardback, ebook, audiobook and where it came from (all of which shows with each cover/ISBN you pick).

Don't panic about there being 'duplicates' in the list, we go through regularly and amalgamate the duplicates with just the press of a button, and that way, the most popular edition will appear in the 'All Votes' list.

OMG there is only 3 of us and according to this survey you guys aren't reading???? Help! We need more kiwis to read and vote - can you get the word out there? If there aren't enough of us this year I'll have to cancel it next year (and I really don't want to do that).

If you belong to any NZ lists and/or groups, let them know?

OK everyone...with poor results this year, and no comments from anyone other than myself, when this list closes for the year, I will not be starting another one. A bit sad, but I'm guessing that most kiwis either don't know about nor care about adding their read books to a list, or, because of the increasing use of the Goodreads app, and the fact that it doesn't allow for easily getting on to lists, we just don't have an accurate view of what kiwis have read so far this year.

I thank those of you who have joined in during this second, and sadly final, year - I wish you all the best in the future and hope you connect with some great book people and great lists next year.
