Listopia > Parents as Villains
These parents aren't just too strict or not understanding; they are the main antagonists of their protagonist children. They must be defeated.

Are any of these adult reads?
Or are they all young adult books?
Most of them do seem to be teen novels, I guess because parents are more powerful at that time of life than later. But these were written for adults (although they’re also of interest to young adults):Black Alice
Carrie (I think so, anyway)
A Game of Thrones
We Need to Talk About Kevin
The Glass Castle
Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit
American Gods
White Oleander
And another one I just thought of, The Manchurian Candidate, about a grown man whose mother still controls him.
