I personally love SEP's Natural Born Charmer the best and I literally laughed out loud during class, so it wind in my book. SEP is my favorite contemp writer. You can't really do better than her.
what about Sarah Mason? Playing James, Society Girls and Party Girl. Playing James especially was LAUGH OUT LOUD funny.
All sophie KInsella books are amazing.they will leave you begging for more!
Nice list! Books by Sophie Kinsella are by far some of the most funniest books I have ever read, and I am glad you have one of my personal favorite "Can You Keep a Secret?" on top of the list!
There are many books here that are great, but not meant to be funny.For ex.: Beyond a Highland Mist is great, but not a funny read... IMO I don't think IAD series is funny either.
Still it's a great list!
There are some odd titles on this list, as I can't see how anyone could 'laugh out loud' while reading excellent but serious books like Jane Austen's Emma and Northanger Abbey, or Dickens' Bleak House.Personally I love the historical romances by Georgette Heyer and have read all of them. And yes, most of those can still make me laugh out loud, especially The Grand Sophy which is still my all time favourite when it comes to Georgette Heyer's historical romances :-)

Maybe you haven't read it in a while, but the first page had me laughing out loud. I think Austen's works are really funny. (Though I'm not the one who added them to this list.)
But I agree with you about Dickens' Bleak House. The title kind of says it all. :)
Austen is very funny. Just because her books are classics and you can write scholarly papers about them doesn't mean they're dark.
If you want laugh-out-loud romance that's sexy and quirky, read In the Stars by Sabrina Simon! Engaging characters in a story that's just different: a pot-pourri of sex, sports, astrology, the real dish on girl-talk, and humor in abundance.

@Suzanne & willafulI fully agree that Jane Austen's books can often make you grin, chuckle, smile or even laugh (although I have my doubts about 'laughing out loud' for her books). But I 'qualified' them as 'serious' books because my idea of 'romance books', it seems, is different from that of some other members. And maybe it's my idea of 'laughing out loud' that's different :-)
When someone mentions 'romance books' to me, I think of Daphne du Maurier, Georgette Heyer (love both authors), Sara Seale, and so on, but not of the more 'classic' works by authors like Jane Austen, Henry Fielding, William Thackeray, etc. Personally I tend to separate these 'classics' from 'romance books' (and I like both genres), which is probably where the mistunderstanding comes from :-)
I vote for Breathing Room. Love this book and have reread numerous times.

A lot of these books made me laugh out loud, and many of those are on my read-over-and-over list. But Romeo and Juliet? Really? And many of the books on this list might have provided a chuckle or two, but weren't written to be humorous. There was at least one that I saw with no romance what so ever.
Is there a way to save this list? I'd like to come back to it to look for new authors, but I'm afraid I'll never find it again.
I would add The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion as well as The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion. These were books that I couldn't read in bed, because my laughing kept my husband awake ! Rip roaring funny, but stories to touch your heart as well.Thanks for the list...I now have a whole lot of great titles to add to my Want to Read list.
SEP , Jennifer Crusie and Jennifer Weiner are my go-to authors whenever I want a well-written book from a woman's point of view. Nothing tops Blue marching down the highway in a beaver costume (thank you, SEP for a great opening to a delicious novel!) Crusie's Agnes and the Hitman is one of my all-time favorites. THE plot twists, double crosses and outrageous characters had me in stitches. Weiner's well-crafted books always satisfy. Thanks for the great list. I now have many new titles added to my TBR pile
How are none of Tawna Fenske's books in the top 100?!?! Her stories and characters are hilarious! Especially "Marine for Hire"!!! Btw, Does anyone know how to check whether a book's on this list - without having to scroll through all of it, that is? ;)
I did not see "Play" by Kylie Scott. Among other things, the funniest sex scene ever. Mal Erickson rocks!

And even though I've read them several times, I can still chuckle when I read one of Georgette Heyer's historical novels ;-)
Love Jennifer Crusie. Welcome to Temptation is my favorite romantic comedy, ever. Have read all of her books. Also, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, and Rachel Gibson. Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series is like candy, they're so fun to read. Wondered why there was no Susan Anderson.
