Listopia > The Deadly Sin of Wrath
This list is only for the vengeful and rage-filled. Books that fit this list feature wrath as a major plot point - a character with extreme and violent anger, serial killers, an obsession with revenge, an obsession with hating someone, ghosts kept alive by hate, bullying, etc. As long as wrath has a negative impact on the book and its cast.
Any genre or age group is welcome. Some nonfiction and poetry is fine if it fits the list.

Anyone can add books to this list.

These lists are fun and thought provoking, so I’m just adding my take on why I added a few things to the list. I know I can do that when I vote on it, but I’m doing it down here for possible discussion. Talking about books is fun.
I did vote for a fair amount of books on this list. Some were already on here, so I think I’ll avoid the obvious ones (Lord of the Flies, Hamlet, etc.).
I considered adding I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban, even though it was a non-fiction book. The wrath of the Taliban against women and society in general is certainly a central theme. And the killing and beating of people in the valley where Malala grew up is grotesque. However, I felt that this book was more about over coming wrath of others, moving past it and being better. So, I ultimately decided to leave it off. I don’t know, it felt more empowering than vengeful.
Fear Me and Captive in the Dark (Also on the Lust list) are here because both males in these books main drive isn’t necessarily the lust for the female character, but revenge for wrongs done to them in the past. These are both “Dark Romances” with some heavy themes and deal with rape while also almost promoting unhealthy relationships and fetishizing abuse. Just FYI, so read ahead at your own peril. Caleb's, in Captive in the Dark, whole plan is to get closer to a man he felt wronged him. So, he can kill that man. “Kitty” (forget the characters real name) is more a casualty in his quest for revenge. Total Wrath plot, yeah? As for the main character in Fear Me, (forget his name…) he hates the main female as she reminds him of something terrible from his past. So, he bullies her and makes her life hell. Also, total wrath.
The Vendetta of Felipe Espinosa. This book is about America’s first Serial Killer. The whole book is murder and wrath. ‘Nuff Said.
The Outsiders. So, this kind of falls in the way of Malala. The outsiders are a group of poor young boys that are called “greasers” because their hair is generally greasy. This has a lot more to do with their poverty than a fashion choice. They are targets of other boys in the area because people are jerks that like to bully anyone who is different. While this book certainly has an arc that leads to the victims of others wrath overcoming it and fist fighting their way to freedom, essentially, I would say that the hatred and wrath of the antagonists set the plot of this book in motion.
That’s just my take on the few books I added.
