1: At least 50 pages in length.
2: No books about middle school, high school, or college *unless* the book is written from or about the perspective of an advanced early reader. For example: A 4/5/6 year old goes to college or has an experience on that level.
3: Consider the emotional perspective of a 4/5/6 year old - please no plots or stories that might scare them, keep the content G rated, etc. Some examples since this is a big can of worms: Example # 1/A book about a princess or knight (Igraine the Brave by Cornelia Funke comes to mind) is ok, but it takes more of a silly approach than a violent one. Example # 2/ Charlotte's Web by E.B. White also comes to mind because it has characters that young readers can relate to, but gets into some topics that make it parent should read with their child book in my opinion. I makes this list because it doesn't include violence, or plot/characters that the advanced early reader can't identify with.
4: Please no movie or tv show themed books. If the book has related merch or toys, probably not ok.
5. Fiction only.
6. Secular books only. In other words, no books with a theme that supports or largely emphasizes a particular religious perspective or faith based perspective. This is a list for everyone.
7. Please ask in the comments before posting if you are not sure or think of something that may be an exception.
