message 1: by Ilyas (new)

Ilyas Omar I think there should be a lot more wrestling books in the world, but mostly about the WWE!!

message 2: by David (new)

David There have been quite a few books added to this list recently that have nothing to do with wrestling. Can the list creator purge these off of the list?

message 3: by Andrew (new)

Andrew The best wrestling autobiographies - Mick Foley's ones aside - seem to be written without WWE involvement. I think most wrestling readers want to hear the dirt on other wrestlers, we want to know the full inside stories on the big feuds that defined careers.

This doesn't happen often enough in the WWE authorised books, where I think wrestlers are not given full licence to tell the real story, and legends become bland in telling what should be a compelling read.

There are too many dull wrestling books by such legends of the ring as Stone Cold Steve Austin/Shawn Michaels/Edge/The Rock/Ted DiBiase/William Regal/Jerry Lawler/Goldust, all of whom should have great stories to tell.

message 4: by David (new)

David You are correct Andrew, when the books are published by the WWE, chances are you wont' get too much dirt on at least their inner workings. But, I've read some pretty solid ones like the Foley ones and William Regal's is also good.

Also, wanted to mention I cleaned off quite a few non-wrestling books off of this list. Should be only wrestling books now.

message 5: by James (new)

James Wyatt I wouldn't go so far as to call ALL of those books dull, but your point is valid. These are employees and they're smart enough not to bite the hand that feeds. Regal has great stories with personality. DiBiase's is more focused on his life and religious views, which I don't think was influenced by the WWE. Jericho's books were all written while under contract, and they're exceptional.

Essentially, anyone currently with the WWE wants to ensure they're on the proper side. I won't read Bryan Danielson's book for example as I get the feeling he's not as open as he could be. Terry Funk has a great book though, and Eric Bischoff has a killer story despite being on and off with WWE.

Jason Presley I won't read Bryan Danielson's book for example as I get the feeling he's not as open as he could be.

I understand your impulse there. I read his book recently, and it was structured as though his entire life was built toward his big WWE championship match at Wrestlemania. Every chapter started with a diary of his every movement that day, hour by hour. While he did cover most of his career, if the whole thing hadn't been so focused on Wrestlemania, he could have told a lot more of his story. I would have liked to have read a lot more about his European tour. It was still pretty good, but I didn't like the structure.

message 7: by Mike (new)

Mike Agreed, Crowbar Press's catalog should be added.

message 8: by Jason (new)

Jason Presley Mike wrote: "Agreed, Crowbar Press's catalog should be added."

The entire Crowbar Press catalog is now represented, including the books released this week at the Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion.

message 9: by Jason (new)

Jason Presley Can someone please vote for more books? I have exhausted my 100 votes, but there are still a lot more books that need to be added.

message 10: by Ronnie (new)

Ronnie Fairley Great list!
