This list of translated fiction in 2020 uses the same criteria as those for the Best Translated Book Award for Fiction which for the first time will pause for the 2021 award. The BTBA will officially resume in 2022 for which all books from 2020 and 2021 will be eligible.
The list follows the same eligibility rules:
- any fiction work of translation published in English for the first time ever between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020
- a book that existed in English in a previous translation is not eligible, unless more than half of its content is new
- books published in the UK are eligible if they are distributed in the U.S. through normal means
- self-published ebooks in translation are eligible if they have an ISBN and are available for purchase through more than one outlet.
