Score

Question for ATY members. The cover prompts and listopia lists are still fairly new to me.

When you vote on a book on a list like this, are you voting because you liked the book, or because you think its a good match for the prompt? Is it OK to vote for a book that you want to read for the prompt, but haven't read yet?

Also, are some of these on the list because of words in the title, rather than images?

I usually add both books I've read and would recommend, and books I haven't read but might use myself, so it's easy to keep track of them.

There are almost always a few that get added inaccurately. :-P If you notice any that clearly don't fit on the list you can try asking the mod who created the list to remove them.

Edited to add: To be slightly more specific, I would only vote for books that DO fit the prompt (or at least I have a reasonable expectation fit the prompt--it's pretty obvious for covers, but for other prompts sometimes it's guessing a bit for planned books). I will upvote any book that fits the prompt AND I would recommend though, so that those get nudged up a bit higher on the list.

That's great advice. Thanks. I made a mistake last night and added a detective book to the light list, or vice versa. (I had too many windows open). I fixed it, but I'll double check my votes to make sure.

Some of the covers are hard to really see. On one, I mistook a "Reese's book club" sticker for the sun! LOL.

There are a lot that have a nice glow of light (like from the sun), but they don't show the sun or the light source clearly. Other people seem to be counting them so I guess they're OK.

Comment, I'm reading Klara and The Sun, and I don't think the thing on her hand is a light source per se. I believe it's a sensor (to take light in), to recharge her using solar power.

I noticed that too! I don't think I'd count one of those for my own challenge, but there's a lot of room for interpretation in how strict people want to be for their own challenges, so it makes sense there would be a mix on the list.

I'm checking my tbr shelf and adding the books I might read for the prompt. If the prompt seems to need a little help, I'll add a book I've read, but if that book gets a lot of votes, I'll remove mine. People have different ways of working with the listopias, I'm using them as an initial step in my planning.

You can give yourself as much leeway as you like or need, but the prompt says "image," so I personally wouldn't use or recommend a print word.
