It's always sad to see. Sometimes it's even disturbing or insulting- especially when the book is in mint condition or near mint condition. With all the classrooms and schools out there that don't have books or don't have enough books to go around, and all those kids out there who don't own a single book, it seems absolutely wasteful and tragic. This is a memorial for all the books that could have gone on to have second lives. Lives that could have continued to entertain and educate long past any due date. But instead they were thrown on top of banana peels and coffee grounds and sent off to fill up some landfill. :(
