There's more to erotica than just 50 Shades. Whether headed for a happily ever after or just a momentary happy ending, these titles are good examples of what's beyond Christian and Anastasia.
ETA 9/25/13: Seriously, don't use this as self-promotion for your YA paranormals. I just deleted 25+ titles that were obviously miscategorized. The list is for books with explicit sex in them, books you'd suggest to someone who said "I liked Fifty Shades, what do I read now?"

Naked and All In are great. Captive in the Dark and the sequel, Seduced in the Dark are excellent, but heavier. Even darker but intense and VERY erotic was Abduction. Not for everyone though-careful.
Gabriel's Inferno & Rapture are my faves, as well, but they're more about sensuality than sexuality... so, I really don't think they are PG-13
If the idea for this list to to give good examples of books beyond the FSOG thing WHY are they listed? Kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?
Rosebud wrote: "If the idea for this list to to give good examples of books beyond the FSOG thing WHY are they listed? So there's a LOT that wasn't originally on here, but people put on there anyway.

Actually, with a goodreads librarian status, you can remove books that don't fit the criteria of the list.
Oooh, I'll have to look into librarian status. I'd originally created the list just as a reference tool for friends who wanted erotica that was better than Fifty Shades, but as you can see, it took off. I only added about a hundred, and the 379 additional were added by other readers.

Maybe ask if you are not sure about a book, if you haven't read it? Also, is it possible to add little descriptions without spoilers as to exactly why it is for the smarts and you know different from the typical cliche.
Went through the list and deleted 25+ titles, almost all were YA paranormals. Please don't use the list for self-promotion, people! I wanted to curate a list of books that went beyond the happy ending to "oh my, can I read this in public without blushing?", and adding the frigging Hunger Games doesn't do it.While I'm not one for cowboy erotica, it cranks some people up, and if that's what they'd suggest to others, I'm not going to censor it.
OMGgodness I read so many HOT Sexy books this summerI can not tell you how HOT I am getting just by telling you all

Emmanuelle de Maupassant's 'The Gentlemen's Club' is a steamy read. Pastiche of Victorian erotica: elegantly debauched.
Not the for faint-hearted, since features orgies, threesomes and elements of BDSM: wonderfully filthy but beautifully written.
Since this is the Smut for Smarts group could we also maybe choose books that are 300 pages or more? I can read a less than 300 pages book in a day, usually in about 4 hours. These 150, 181, and 250 pagers also tend to be lame.
Max wrote: "This is called "smut for SMARTS" but has beautiful disaster and bared to you in it?"I noticed Fifty Shades of Grey on the list and wouldn't exactly call that 'Smut for the smart' either...
@Jessica
"The list is for books with explicit sex in them, books you'd suggest to someone who said "I liked Fifty Shades, what do I read now?" " But what if I didn't like Fifty Shades, not even a little bit? ..... I've rarely come across a book that is so badly written...
"There's more to erotica than just 50 Shades" Oh yes, absolutely, thank heavens :-)
Check out anything by Alisha Rai, especially her earlier stuff, for super hot romance without cringy power dynamics.
Max wrote: "This is called "smut for SMARTS" but has beautiful disaster and bared to you in it?"I have been wondering about some of the titles myself... More and more titles appear that, in my opinion at least, are not meant for 'the smart'.
Anything by Sierra Simone, who writes feverish, obsessive sex with a plot and a point. Also Ellis O. Day, Em Brown, Ariella Talix, Victoria Vale, Merry Farmer, Gemma Snow (Masters of Mayfair).
Evey wrote: "Smut for Smarts... And has Fifty Shades of Grey? Yeah, sure. Not that smart, you know?"I agree 😁 but plenty of people would disagree.
