COLUMBINE and SHE SAID YES are both non-fiction, not fiction. COLUMBINE is very good and clears up a lot of misconceptions about the events that happened there. Stephen King has removed RAGE, one of the Bachman books, from publication after one school shooter claimed it inspired him to his acts.

Yes, Dave Cullen is an idiot. And while it's nice to read a book written by a victim's mother, Cassie was never asked if she believed in God. Valeen Schnurr is the survivor who got shot and started saying "Oh my God, oh my God!", at which point Dylan asked her if she believed in God and why and then left her alone. No one was killed for believing in God. There were no martyrs. The media and everyone just tried to demonize Dylan and Eric even more by telling those lies.
I'm surprised not to see "He Was Weird" by Michael D LeFevre on the list. That too is a book about a school shooting. It details the events leading up to it, the event itself and the aftermath and how it affects so many people.

I read this book years ago and I want to recommend it to someone else and add it to this list but I can't remember the title at all, and searching on Goodreads isn't helping. It's from the late 90's to mid 00's. The opening sentence is something like "by the end of this book, most of the characters will be dead." The narrator is a mixed race high school kid who attends a "gifted" or "advanced" program, as do his siblings. The book deals with bullying, drug abuse, self-esteem issues and other teen problems and ends with a Columbine-style school shooting straight out of Guy Ritchie film.
I want to say it's a Young Adult type novel but with that ending it's probably not?
Thanks in advance.

Eric asked her if she believed and she said she did then he killed her.

Forgive Me, Leanord Peacock doesn't count- the shooting does not occur at school , and it's only one person and then himself (neither of which happens in the end)
Stolen by Lucy Christopher is not a school shooting book. It's about a girl who get kidnapped at an airport and taken to the Australian Outback, which is where the rest of the book takes place. It definitely should not be on this list.

Mercy Rule by Tom Leveen would be a great addition to this list!
