Nicky Oh, I'm looking forward to the read-a-thon! Haven't thought about what to read, yet, though. Hmmmm.

message 3: by Pixelina (new)

Pixelina Added just 2 for now but will mix it up with some of the ones I have on the Kindle too.

message 4: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Wonder if this will show any doubles - a sort of flash-read thing
:O)

message 5: by Melki (new)

Melki Sounds like fun, but I have trouble staying awake past ten. I'll be thinking about you, though.

message 6: by Linda (new)

Linda I wish I could participate. Another time!

message 7: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Menu - A large pan of allday lentil soup simmering on the back burner & baguettes with philidelphia cheese, tomatoes and cucumber.

A quilted pod and myriad cushions on the settee with my

plus nutty-nuut and mp3player. Allset

Due to medication, I've had to bow out of the last two readathons early... Hopefully not this time.

Take it easy there Nikki - just one short story is participation enough to my way of thinking. Enough to say that you joined in.
:O)

I love lentil soup. Maybe I will make some too. Good bread and a salad. Yum!

message 18: by Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) (last edited Oct 09, 2012 01:48AM) (new)

Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) I'll be traveling and will probably not get more than 1 or 2 mini-sections of my current read done, but what the heck, I've entered it just the same ...

Then again, we WILL be attending this that night, so I suppose this counts as well?

The Mystery Of Charles Dickens

That there is 5* fodder, viewed live must be 6*.

Count you ask?
King/Queen I answer!

Välkommen in!

message 20: by Bettie (new)

Bettie Your current read T~A is interesting, I listened to it on t't radio however it was too cram packed with politic tic-tacs for me to consider buying the book.

The others I have bought and loved:

4* The Testament of Gideon Mack, with that metaphysical twist
4* The Fanatic is about the Covenentors
5* Joseph Knight is sublime

Wanda Bettie wrote: "Wanda wrote: "Bettie wrote: "Menu - A large pan of allday lentil soup simmering on the back burner & baguettes with philidelphia cheese, tomatoes and cucumber.

It would be a pyjama party instead!

Tack så mycket! :) (If this is wrong, blame it on Google Translator ...)

Yes, I saw that And the Land Lay Still didn't rate more than 3 stars with you; knowing that you otherwise like the author, I'd been wondering why! I had a bit of a hard time getting into the book (can't really get my head around present tense narrative), but the more "into" I get, the more I'm warming to it.

Joseph Knight is on my to-read list thanks to your recommendation, if I recall correctly, and I suspect the remaining two aren't going to stay far behind!

message 23: by Karen (new)

Karen I want the readathon moved to a different date, I'll be on my way to Malta on the 13th October.

Hospitallers were agin Templars.

October 13, 1307, scores of French Templars were simultaneously arrested by agents of King Philip.

maybe I should ditch that Carpentaria (which is eyeing me up all peculiar) and reach for a topical Knight fictional instead.

Have a great trip Fiona, and we won't mind if your travelling books gets slung onto the list here

message 25: by Nicky (new)

Nicky ACK. Just realised it's not to be this time, either: my very belated birthday party is on the same day and involves a sleepover. *headdesk* I'll get a few hours in, anyway.

(At least a birthday party is better than biliary colic, which is what spoiled the fun last time. Hurrah for not having a gallbladder anymore.)

message 26: by Nicky (last edited Oct 09, 2012 03:29PM) (new)

Nicky (I thought sleepovers stopped happening at around the age of fifteen, usually, but gathering all the friends I graduated with back together requires a sleepover anyway so we might as well be horrendously teenage about it too.)

message 27: by Nicky (new)

Nicky I'm doing some readathon reading today, to make up for being out tomorrow, so I shall add my books as I read them. (The stack I'm choosing from would simply overwhelm everyone else's selections, so I won't put up everything I might read.)

Well done Nikki and really look forward to your entries. Hope you are looking forward to your party.
:O)

message 29: by Pixelina (new)

Pixelina I already changed my to-read list. I am so ready for tomorrow though, this is my first read-a-thon!

Bettie Jeanette wrote: "I already changed my to-read list. I am so ready for tomorrow though, this is my first read-a-thon!"

I'm just opening all the anthologies at the relevant pages so no time is wasted in shuffling. Like your good self, the main book I nominated is looking less likely as the time crawls toward midnight, which is when I have earmarked for starting.

It is exciting in the brew up although I am now wondering if I have a propensity for masochism previously unsuspected.

Really nice to have friends doing the same
:O)

message 31: by Wanda (new)

Wanda Nikki, sleepovers are FUN at any age! Happy Belated Birthday.

message 32: by Wanda (new)

Wanda We are going to have fun tomorrow. I am grateful to you, Bettie, for allowing flexibility in the rules. I must take some time away to go food shopping so Dear W has good things to eat. I came home from work and cleaned the house so that is one less chore looming in front of me and frees up more time for reading.

message 33: by Pixelina (new)

Pixelina yay, shopping done, soup on the stove, coffee hot and ready, cats napping close by, comfy clothes on, phone off, books dipped into and declared suitable. I am officially starting at 2pm my time - which is like 15 min away.
I even plan to read a bit in the bath later tonight :-D (not with the kindle though)

message 34: by Nicky (new)

Nicky I always put my Kindle in one of those sealed plastic bags to take in the bath. *grin*

message 35: by Bettie (new)

Bettie That's me done. I did fall asleep on the settee somewhere between 4 and 5am and woke up with a start, and in an awkward position (with a book cover corner stuck up my nostril) at a 8:45am.

It was good fun all the same, thanks everyone
:O)

message 36: by Pixelina (new)

Pixelina Night Bettie, I am only halfway through but think I will take a nap soon too :-p

message 37: by Bettie (last edited Oct 14, 2012 01:40AM) (new)

Bettie Night all - naps are good, it says so somewhere in the small print of the Law of Diminishing Returns
:O))

message 38: by Wanda (new)

Wanda Good Night Dear One. This was such fun. Thank you. My selection is giving me such satisfaction. It is a brilliant read. I look forward to #2 in the series.

Bettie Wanda wrote: "Good Night Dear One. This was such fun. Thank you. My selection is giving me such satisfaction. It is a brilliant read. I look forward to #2 in the series."

It was fun and I am glad you found the right book for the occasion - that was a region where it could have fallen flat... and fast.

Guilt free time-outs were also a plus. I plan to fill up those snoozed hours over the next few days so that the time sheet is full, however won't sweat if it doesn't happen.

message 40: by Pixelina (new)

Pixelina In the end, what really did me in, was my poor eyes. Next time I need to get more audio-books to mix things up with. I did finish 2 books and made good progress in 2 others.

message 41: by Bettie (new)

Cracktastic result right there.

Audio books are a great boon for tired eyes, and also for freeing the hands to do other things at the same time.
