Oh, I'm looking forward to the read-a-thon! Haven't thought about what to read, yet, though. Hmmmm.

Due to medication, I've had to bow out of the last two readathons early... Hopefully not this time.

Take it easy there Nikki - just one short story is participation enough to my way of thinking. Enough to say that you joined in.
:O)
Thanks Laura, Fiona for letting us know, kind of you to drop by. It is good fun setting up the reads; wish I had some board books!

I love lentil soup. Maybe I will make some too. Good bread and a salad. Yum!

fab if we were all together - bet we wouldn't read as much if we were... maybe next time
I'll be traveling and will probably not get more than 1 or 2 mini-sections of my current read done, but what the heck, I've entered it just the same ... Then again, we WILL be attending this that night, so I suppose this counts as well?

The Mystery Of Charles Dickens

That there is 5* fodder, viewed live must be 6*.
Count you ask?
King/Queen I answer!
Välkommen in!
Your current read T~A is interesting, I listened to it on t't radio however it was too cram packed with politic tic-tacs for me to consider buying the book. The others I have bought and loved:
4* The Testament of Gideon Mack, with that metaphysical twist
4* The Fanatic is about the Covenentors
5* Joseph Knight is sublime

It would be a pyjama party instead!

Tack så mycket! :) (If this is wrong, blame it on Google Translator ...)
Yes, I saw that And the Land Lay Still didn't rate more than 3 stars with you; knowing that you otherwise like the author, I'd been wondering why! I had a bit of a hard time getting into the book (can't really get my head around present tense narrative), but the more "into" I get, the more I'm warming to it.
Joseph Knight is on my to-read list thanks to your recommendation, if I recall correctly, and I suspect the remaining two aren't going to stay far behind!

Hospitallers were agin Templars.
October 13, 1307, scores of French Templars were simultaneously arrested by agents of King Philip.
maybe I should ditch that Carpentaria (which is eyeing me up all peculiar) and reach for a topical Knight fictional instead.
Have a great trip Fiona, and we won't mind if your travelling books gets slung onto the list here
ACK. Just realised it's not to be this time, either: my very belated birthday party is on the same day and involves a sleepover. *headdesk* I'll get a few hours in, anyway.(At least a birthday party is better than biliary colic, which is what spoiled the fun last time. Hurrah for not having a gallbladder anymore.)
(I thought sleepovers stopped happening at around the age of fifteen, usually, but gathering all the friends I graduated with back together requires a sleepover anyway so we might as well be horrendously teenage about it too.)
I'm doing some readathon reading today, to make up for being out tomorrow, so I shall add my books as I read them. (The stack I'm choosing from would simply overwhelm everyone else's selections, so I won't put up everything I might read.)

Jeanette wrote: "I already changed my to-read list. I am so ready for tomorrow though, this is my first read-a-thon!"I'm just opening all the anthologies at the relevant pages so no time is wasted in shuffling. Like your good self, the main book I nominated is looking less likely as the time crawls toward midnight, which is when I have earmarked for starting.
It is exciting in the brew up although I am now wondering if I have a propensity for masochism previously unsuspected.
Really nice to have friends doing the same
:O)
We are going to have fun tomorrow. I am grateful to you, Bettie, for allowing flexibility in the rules. I must take some time away to go food shopping so Dear W has good things to eat. I came home from work and cleaned the house so that is one less chore looming in front of me and frees up more time for reading.
yay, shopping done, soup on the stove, coffee hot and ready, cats napping close by, comfy clothes on, phone off, books dipped into and declared suitable. I am officially starting at 2pm my time - which is like 15 min away.I even plan to read a bit in the bath later tonight :-D (not with the kindle though)
That's me done. I did fall asleep on the settee somewhere between 4 and 5am and woke up with a start, and in an awkward position (with a book cover corner stuck up my nostril) at a 8:45am.It was good fun all the same, thanks everyone
:O)
Night all - naps are good, it says so somewhere in the small print of the Law of Diminishing Returns:O))
Good Night Dear One. This was such fun. Thank you. My selection is giving me such satisfaction. It is a brilliant read. I look forward to #2 in the series.
Wanda wrote: "Good Night Dear One. This was such fun. Thank you. My selection is giving me such satisfaction. It is a brilliant read. Guilt free time-outs were also a plus. I plan to fill up those snoozed hours over the next few days so that the time sheet is full, however won't sweat if it doesn't happen.
In the end, what really did me in, was my poor eyes. Next time I need to get more audio-books to mix things up with. I did finish 2 books and made good progress in 2 others.

Audio books are a great boon for tired eyes, and also for freeing the hands to do other things at the same time.
