No one should judge such an iconic, historical writer based on today’s world view which has become so mean, anti-family, anti real righteous civil values and have become simply perverted, angry and twisted.Dickens characters are so deep, fully explained if you actually read vs judge. Once delving in, you get to see and understand human character, the good, bad, ugly, & the loyal, faithful, hard-working, golden-rule examples - who thrive and also the beauty of survival. Shows the favor given when you help another,
Anyone who wants to know from whence we came, how hard our forefathers/mothers had it will learn ALOT & will hopefully be grateful. Not trash another century’s author for trying to elevate the reader out of a very difficult time. Seems like many right now want to throw away everything that ever happened for the chip on their shoulder, it’s fiction that tells the story of those days. No we weren’t all privileged.
His writings are brilliant and show how dumbed down our society is.
These books are all great. True human stories of the time with a positive outlook. And they will improve your grammatical knowledge, since our education system has failed in reading, English and math. Amazing, eloquent author, priceless.
I know Dickens has his well-known flaws (coincidences, sentimentality), but he really is the greatest English writer after Shakespeare (who towers over everyone & rules the world of literature in its entirety) So I give a number of his books five-stars, not because they are perfect but because they are very, very great!
