Any chance the Ender novels can be removed, seeing as they're actually MilSF, not MilFantasy? (There needs to be a better way to shorten that. . .)
No, Starship troopers is Military SF. As is Ender's Game really but I can't remove it from the list.
I can remove the Ender books from the list if you would like?? Let me know exactly which ones you want removed.
That would be great Dawn. I can update the list description to make it a bit clearer. The ones to remove are: "Ender's Game" "Speaker for the Dead" "Ender's Shadow"...basically every Orson Scott Card book on the list right now. Anything from the "Shadow Saga" or "Ender's Saga" should not really be on there.
Sorry I took so long, GR's didn't notify me that you had replied. :) I took off all the Ender's and Shadow Saga books, which left no Orson Scott Card books on the list. Let me know if you need anything else removed.
Is it possible to add the Monarchies of God series by Paul Kearney to the list...as well as the rest of the Matcht Trilogy (I only see The Ten Thousand). Paul Kearney is one of the best at this sub-genre.Also, I think the Dread Empire Series as well as the Instrumentality of the Night Series (both by Glen Cook) also fall into this category.
^Joshua. I have now added the first in the series you mentioned (the omnibuses anyway). Anyone on goodreads can add books to the list, so feel free to add anything else.
Sequere me in Tenebras wrote: "Why the hell is "The Iliad" listed as military fantasy?"I assume you are looking for an answer more polished than: because people are stupid.

No, I was expecting the less polished version Artemas.
I think a criteria for a Military fantasy should be that the majority of the cast of the book ( or at least a part) is actually in the Military. This is definitely not the case for A Song of Ice and Fire which in my view does not belong to this list...
Yeah, ASpI does not fit to me either. I'm sure there are more people like to just add random stuff to lists. I would also take off any Lord of the Rings Books. I'm actually surprised Hunger Games is not on the list and voted # 1.
What is Erogon doing on this list? I would say to take of Sword of Truth books, Lord of the Rings and a bunch of other stuff too. There are actually not that many military fantasy books out there, so this book needs serious pruning.
I will try to remove a few of these that don't belong here.
For fantasy, I really think you have to have multi-chapter battle sequences. Unfortunately, I can't remember which books in the series had those. WoT Book 6-9...all starts to fade together.
I wouldn't consider a lot of these "military fantasy." For example: Graceling, Mistborn, The Dragon Reborn, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Thomas Covenant, and ESPECIALLY not Elantris. Military fantasy has to be centered around military life in my opinion.

The friends-to-lovers plot is a familiar trajectory, in fiction and in life. It’s a path to good times! And bad times. And, as many can attest,...
Anyone can add books to this list.
