So I included The Man Who Laughs because of the Alan Scott team-up story: Made of Wood. It's easily one of my favorite Batman tales and Alan is such a rich character who's given the spotlight all too rarely (outside of the JSA, that is). And it actually has the World's Greatest Detective do some detecting.

I added a few. All of mine were rated by me higher than the rating on here.

I've read 65 DC comics trades, at least according to what I've put on Goodreads. Vast majority of which were released within the last two years. And therefore, I'm reluctant to add much as "the test of time" hasn't occurred yet. And so I only added two which I rather enjoyed and others on here rather hated (the Catwoman and Red Lantern volumes). And one other that others didn't necessarily hate, but liked less well than I did (the British version of Batman volume).

And I've read 33 Vertigo trades. Vast majority of which are in the Fables universe (Fables, Jack of Fables, Cinderella, and Fairest). Plus four not in that universe (Saucer Country; Y: The First Man; Filthy Rich; and Human Target: Chance Meetings).

Fables tends to be highly rated by Goodreads raters, Jack of Trades less so. There might be one or two Jack of Trades I could add on.

(and just because I made shelves for them when I hadn't before this list: 24 Dark Horse, 18 Boom Studios, 16 Marvel, 15 Image Comics, 13 IDW, 12 Dynamite Entertainment).

Interesting choices. I hadn't even heard of the Knight and Squire book. That was part of the motivation behind this list: exposing each other to books we wouldn't otherwise have found. I wasn't a big fan of Red Lanterns either, which sucks because I love them as supporting characters. Milligan can be so innovative but all of his New 52 material has been pretty damn pedestrian.
