Seduction by M.J.Rose has mystery, suspense, romance, and a fast moving plot. Characters grab and hold our interest.

The ratings on the "Best Reads" list are virtually meaningless when only a handful of people have rated the book. Please provide an option permitting the user to set the minimum number of ratings before a book is included in the list. I am mainly interested in books that have been rated by at least 1,000 people.

Even with highly anticipated new releases you won't have ratings from 1000 people for a while. This is just a fun list for spring/summer reads.Cheers,
KIM
To me, Beach Reads means a light, fun, fast read. I was surprised by some of the books that are more serious being on this list.
I don't think of Beach Reads being exclusively for women, but then again, I don't see as many guys reading there as women. The books I picked probably would not appeal to men.
I'm with Lobstergirl. I thought the same thing while scanning the list. I also found very few that I have read.
On a side note I have been noticing Goodreads seems to be malfunctioning sort of lately. Did anyone notice it? I hope whatever bugs Goodreads has been happening will be sorted out soon.On this list it claimed that I have "0 books from my collection in here and 0 books in my to-read list." Not going very far down the list I keep finding books that are already on my to-read list and books I have already read.
What is going on, Goodreads?!!
Nancy wrote: "To me, Beach Reads means a light, fun, fast read. I was surprised by some of the books that are more serious being on this list."You should read "Love of Truth by CT Oliver. I think it's what you're looking for in a good beach read.
Loved "The Peace Bridge" (DC Hubbard) - solid historical research spun into a tale of young love but with believable emotional family burdens to be resolved related to the holocaust. Kept me involved to the very end.
Loved "Don't Say a Word"! Great story and writing! Also enjoyed (and laughed out loud) with "Shut up and Kiss Me"...
Looking at the titles at the top of the list, it's making me rethink that my definition of a beach read. I think fun, insightful without going overboard. What's your definition of a great beach read?
Compelling characters and a plot that keeps moving the reader forward. I'm half way through And the Mountains Echoed. Love the story telling qualities!
Just finished, A Romanov Bride, another historical novel, this one re. the Russian revolution of early 20th century. Fast read & very informative too!

Nancy wrote: "To me, Beach Reads means a light, fun, fast read. I was surprised by some of the books that are more serious being on this list."Agreed! I just finished the Second Act Series by Julia Dumont, and could zip through a book/day. That's a beach read to me!
First Night of Summer A gritty, fast-paced, must read psychological thriller/ mystery. Disturbing yet relevant---and full of emotion. Not for the faint of heart. I found it to be a touching story where good triumphs over evil. Great ending!

What's your definition of a great beach read?"I was just thinking of the same question. There are a couple of books here (To Kill a Mockingbird is one; The Hobbit is another) that are so momentous that I don't think I'd want to read them on vacation. How could I hop up as soon as someone said, "Let's get something to eat!" while my cheeks are still wet with tears from the death of Thorin Oakenshield? How can I mix Boo Radley and a beach fire? I think I'd be too deep inside my head to be much fun!
On the other hand, I can totally see reading Tina Fey's Bossypants at the beach, and I actually DID read The Nanny Diaries on vacation (though not at the beach) over the summer. It was just right; I could read late, knowing I could sleep in, but it didn't haunt me when I was with others.
Patty wrote: "Has anyone read The Kitchen House?"Yes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, try "House girl"
loved whiskey beach..The ending was good and the story keep you reading till the very end
