Najibah Bakar Teman-teman, kalian pun boleh mencalonkan buku-buku Faisal kegemaran, sehingga 100 buku seorang :). Cubalah add.

message 2: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Seriously, Santa Claus? It might be nice, but it's not a holy book.

message 3: by Laura (last edited Sep 03, 2008 06:56AM) (new)

Laura It belongs on this list as much as Lolita belongs on the list "Worst Books of All Time."

message 4: by Gary (new)

Gary It belongs on this list even more than that. It is essentially a Cliffs Notes version of the bible which, as of this writing, occupies three (3) different spots on the list, depending on which version you choose. So, why not this version?

It can save people a lot of time -- time they can spend reading The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

message 5: by Brad (new)

Brad Holy means pure and untampered with and the bible ain't that

message 6: by Antoine (new)

Antoine Brad wrote: "Holy means pure and untampered with and the bible ain't that"
Is there any mere book that could possibly qualify?

message 7: by Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) (last edited Nov 18, 2010 03:03AM) (new)

Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) "The Lord of the Rings?" "A Christmas Carol?" "Atlas Shrugged?" "Faust?" "The Aeneid?" Seriously, folks ...

How about the "big penis book"? I know some people worship them, but...

Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) It would certainly qualify under the heading "an epic battle spanning millennia" ...

You did not ask me, but here's the answer: The Qur'an, the pure & untampered.

message 11: by Jim (last edited Nov 18, 2010 04:22PM) (new)

Jim I add my surprise at what some people consider to be holy books.

Also, No 1 is the King James Bible LDS Version - I don't think most of the voters saw or understood that LDS means Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church).

message 12: by Lobstergirl (new)

Lobstergirl Part of the problem with that LDS edition is that at one time it was combined with all other bible editions, so if you shelved any of those other editions, now it looks like you shelved the LDS edition. (This is a problem larger than just Listopia voting.)

message 13: by Velvetink (new)

Velvetink Lobstergirl wrote: "Part of the problem with that LDS edition is that at one time it was combined with all other bible editions, so if you shelved any of those other editions, now it looks like you shelved the LDS edi..."

Yes that's what happened when I shelved a King James version. ;(

message 14: by Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) (last edited Nov 19, 2010 04:33PM) (new)

Themis-Athena (Lioness at Large) The KJV "sans LDS" is back now as a separate book, though (currently no. 25), so you can remedy your vote if you still want to! :)

message 15: by Michael (new)

Michael God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything, (at number 10 on the list as I post this) would seem from its title to not be a holy book.

message 16: by Andrew (last edited Feb 04, 2014 10:17AM) (new)

Andrew Obrigewitsch Man 90% of these books don't belong on here. All the anti-religios books need to go and hate to break it to people, but Plato didn't write religious scripture and neither did Ayn Rand. Please do remove all non religious scripture.

message 17: by Linda (new)

Linda Kroshewsky What a weird list, fiction, strange cults, satantic manuals, mutilated bibles, all mixed with false phophets, and one or two real picks. I completely agree with Andrew.

message 18: by Mitchell (new)

Mitchell Friedman Not as bad a list as I expected to find - clearly some maintenance has been done - though some more is needed. I'm thinking removing Dante and the Aeneid is the most obvious.

message 19: by Thea (new)

Thea this list looks like a joke. Mormons and Scientologists, are you serious? I hope not

message 20: by John (new)

John Burns My top Holy books recommendations: The Bible (just read the most important chapters, don't read all of it), The Bhagavad Gita (Eknath), The Dhammapada (Eknath), The Tao Te Ching.
I feel like, once you've read those, you ought to know all that's worth knowing about the world's major religions.
