What is so difficult to understand in 'stand alones'? I see a lot of books that belong to series. --'

i'm ok with them if the series is about other books but i often try to find a stand alone so i don't have to worry about a cliffy

Angelfall by Susan Ee is not a stand alone but actually the first in a series! :)

TRUE stand alone books worth reading (other character pov's & spin off characters withstanding)

can't prevent others from voting, keep in mind pov's and novella spin offs aren't really a continuation of the story. side character spin offs may have the previous characters involved moving forward but they are not prevalent to the story

I rarely read series, so appreciated one of my Goodreads friends recommending this list. I wonder if people recommending find these particular books qualify as stand-alones because they don't have cliff-hanger endings. And they don't need another book (like in trilogies) to complete the over-arching story arc?
