What about Tamara Pierce? ALL the books by her I've read have female heroines! Plus, why is PERCY JACKSON on here? Percy's a boy. Annabeth's not a heroine.

I forgot to add Tamara Pierce! Thanks for reminding me. As for Percy Jackson, I didn't add that novel. It was added by someone else.

How did Twilight end up in "Kick butt heroines"?

The list is called "Kick Butt HEROINES" not heros, so why is Percy Jackson on here? Jeez people, get you facts straight! But yes, I do agree with The Hunger Games and The Vampire Academy Series! Go Katniss and Rose!

Hands down you can't get anymore kick butt than alanna and you can't get anymore heroine than alanna... I didn't understand why half these books were chosen.

This is a great list. I would love it if you could vote for my lists, too, Kate Joy!

These are some intriguing-looking books, but I can't help noticing a couple of things:
First, quite a few of these books have male protagonists -- which means the "kick-butt heroines" in those books aren't really the heroines of their own lives but supporting players in someone else's story. That doesn't mean they can't be wonderful characters, but it is a bit of a disappointment that the focus isn't on them.
Second, Twilight is what you read when you DON'T want to see a heroine kick butt, when instead you fantasize about being completely helpless and in perpetual need of rescue. There is absolutely nothing kick-butt about Bella Swan. So how did it get any votes for this list???

I think Harry Potter could be added for Hermione. She's a main character and kick a*s.

Bella was a total whiner until Breaking Dawn, then she kicked butt. I voted for that one.

How did City of Bones get on here? Clary is one of the LEAST kick-butt heroines ever.
