The Heart is a Lonely Hunter? I hated that book. Soo bored. No insight to speak of that I remember. I negative vote that one.
I loved heart is a lonely hunter...I remember it as very powerful and moving and beautifully told. But that's what's great about this list! So many interesting books to investigate!
I am not very suprised that Meyer's books were way up there. Why, the first time I saw one I thought, "Ohh..that one looks really sweet!" Hack. Sweet indeed, nothing but a bunch of flim-flam.

Bored me silly too and was unable to finish it. The only thing good about it is the title, LOL!

She's a classic Southern novelist who created a wonderful book about love, family, and teenage angst. Never overdone, her subtle treatment of human emotion made this a classic. Yes, it was quite powerful.
House of Night!! The covers were pretty good but the inside (shudder).
submarine is great, what are you talking about? I will agree with you on Prep and The Luxe, I could literally feel the minutes of my life slipping away, never to be reclaimed.
Last week, I was in my local bookstore, browsing for books, and I suddenly found myself examining "Breaking Dawn" Special Edition (Hardcover). It's an absolutely amazing-looking book, yet probably deceptively designed, just like the first “Twilight” book.
Okay, do I agree with you on the Twilight series but the The Mortal Instruments and Shiver were great books with great covers.
For anyone wanting to escape into a story and leave the world behind, Deception by Mary Jay is perfect. You'll feel as if you've entered into the world of Miranda and her constant battle with the future. I had the privilege of reading the first chapter and I've been on the edge of my seat for its release. Mary Jay's style of writing is remarkably captivating. Paula Ann
