A pity it's 8 and not 7, as Colleen McCullough's Masters of Rome series is wonderful (and each book is so long!).

I think you're right on both counts, Susanna. Since the 8 was just arbitrary anyway, let's just say 7!

My objective was to make the series that were included in the list long enough that there were a number of books, but 7 works just as well as 8.

Believe it or not, there actually are more than 7 books in the series Dykes to Watch Out For. I checked. Who knew. It actually sounds hilarious.

I had no idea the Molly Murphy mysteries had that many books -- it's up to 12 now! I read the first two and liked them a lot.

So many good books being included in this list, from lots of genres.

That makes sense. Should I delete then The Code of the Woosters book 7th in the Jeeves series?

Thanks Anna. If you can find the first book in the series and post that, that would lead others to the rest of them if they're interested. As Dagny said, it's to keep the list manageable, but allow everyone who wants to follow a series to find it from the first one.

Even though it only has 6 books, the Earth Sea Cycle by Ursula K. Le Guin is wonderful, but I guess there lies a slippery slope...A Wizard of Earthsea

FYI. There are still about 5 books on the list that are not the 1st in series and most have 1st and a another book.

See the edit to the instructions I made at the top. I find people don't use the list as much if the most recent book isn't there.

So, especially if the first in the series is over ten years old, I am now adding the last book in the series instead of (or in addition to) the first.
