I just came from the "Best Books Ever" list and this one was quite a welcome palate-cleanser after seeing that the top books EVER were dominated by the Harry Potter/Twilight/Hunger Games set.

As for The Holy Bible here's a choice passage:

"When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draws near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smites him, and puts forth her hand, and takes him by his private parts: Then you shall cut off her hand, your eye shall not pity her." --Deut. 25:11-12 KJV 2003

Pretty weird, especially for those of us without discernment.

Right? I saw it and realized my 21 year old daughter would absolutely love that messed-up book for her birthday. I went to a separate screen on my PC and ordered it before I was even done voting on the list.

The cool thing about this list is how subjective it is--why did I vote for Stephen King's The Tommyknockers, but not his other work, all of which is undeniably weird? It's so reflexive, like my instincts all landed in my mouse hand.

This may be the only list I've felt comfortable voting for a few titles I haven't read or even browsed...because how could Creepy-Ass Dolls NOT be weird? And I am ordering my list by weirdness level as opposed to which are my favorite reads. So much fun!

I love this list because it's so.,,,,weird! One person's wierd is another person's normal! The unifying theme in the one's I have read here is that they are dark, rather than what I would think of as weird. But plenty of the titles sound weird enough!

OMG! I've found my ultimate list of lists. I want to read every book listed.

It all started many, many decades ago when I wandered into the Adult section of the library and finally found a few books that appeared interesting. It was the '60s and life was getting weird and I was bored. It was time for me to move on and start discovering more of life beyond my dull little girl existence. The first book I read from this new world for me was Hubert Selby, Jr's "Last Exit To Brooklyn." Didn't find out until many years later that it had originally been banned. I didn't know. I just thought, "Okay, I had moved over from the Children's section of the library to the Adult section. Adult subjects. That's fine."

Think the second was Ken Kesey's "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest." Loved it!

It was all sideways from there...
