These are books that are good introductions to Stoic philosophy and practice, for non-academics. NB: Please don't add translations of ancient texts, or academic texts. We're looking for modern books on applying Stoicism to daily life, aimed at the general public.

Htb2050 I have concerns about the book by Ryan Holiday.

It was Holiday that got me interested in stoicism!

Tom Harned I second first commenter's concerns with the Ryan Holiday book. This book uses Stoicism as a marketing gimmick, but lacks any real depth or any meaningful discussion of stoicism. Given the other wonderful books on this list, my recommendation would be to skip the Holiday book.

Agreed. I read it and it was totally a marketing book and a bad one even at that.

I can fully understand you, RH isn't my favorite modern stoic author neither, because of that business-stoicism what he stands for. But we shouldn't forget that the big ancient ones were also very different from each other: Seneca was a rich man, and a kind of investment banker of his days, Epictetus a slave, and Marcus Aurelius the mightiest man of his era, who hadn't have any concern for wealth and money.
Fortunately we have nowadays a lot of excellent writers on the theme and you can find the best one for you. I think the modern day stoicism has a lot to thank for RH, but like I mentioned it before, he doesn't write the way I like.
