Books with Intercalary Chapters. (5 books)

Steinbeck used so-called intercalary chapters within "The Grapes of Wrath"--that is, chapters that move from the specific to the general. From the Joads to the US as a whole. From typical fictional narration to something that feels like a blend of creative non-fiction, poetry, and--gasp!--propaganda. I'm interested in other books that may share this technique. I'm hoping the Goodreads community might be able to pitch in on this one.
