I would add "The 6 Events" by Stephen Covey to this list. It is an amazing book!

Why is "Under the Banner of Heaven" on a list entitled "Best LDS Non-fiction"? I was under the impression it's an anti-Mormon book, and I don't really see what's so admirable about that.

Perhaps it is because there are people out there who like to see both sides of a story listed.

There is no "both sides" to a religious denomination. There is the truth of its beliefs and then those who like to fight it. But the religions doctrine and principles do not have "sides" like a "story." People have a right to an opinion on religions and sects, but to slander and degrade them is demoralizing and destructive for all parties and serves no purpose. Those who bash others beliefs are no different than the bully on the playground.

I think this list has really blurred the lines between what are theological works and non-fiction publications. Theological works teach about religious beliefs, such as The Miracle of Forgiveness or Lectures on Faith, which teach what LDS people refer to as doctrine. A non-fiction work is generally considered more something like Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling, which is a historical work based on research that seeks to be a factual account of a real individual. I understand why people are putting theological works here, but I think it takes this list off track. I think there should be a best LDS theological/religious texts and best LDS non-fiction.

In looking over active lists, there is a list for best LDS theology. I would encourage this list to be edited to distinguish between the two.

Let's focus on the beliefs we share. We all have our own personal beliefs and truths. Let's celebrate our differences, and not let them divide us. We each need to make our own personal spirtual journey's and find our spirtual identity. We choose who we are to become by our thoughts and actions.

President Hinckley, addressed this better than I. Please look into it.
