How can one be looking forward to The Book of Negroes/Someone Knows My Name when it has been out for about three years?
I've seen some book on lists that really have me scratching my head at times. Like Twilight on the Hunks in History. Why?
Oh, because Edward Cullen was born in 1903 so he's TECHNICALLY from a historical era, even though he's been going to different high schools for 90 years.
Twilight's like the clap. It turns up everywhere and you can't get rid of it.

I think someone made a "books that get on all the lists whether they qualify or not" list. Twilight was winning when I last saw it.
I notice some 2010 books were put on here too. LOL Oh well. :) Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I haven't been able to access listopia for a while so I'm just responding now. For some reason, listopia takes so long to load, my computer crashes.
If "The Tudor Secret" was first published in 2004, how is it on this list? You want a librarian to clean it up, Tara?

I think the Tudor Secret is a new edition coming out in 2011 with new cover, etc.
At least I don't see Twilight on this one. That's a first :p

I don't want to anger the people that have placed them there.. I do wish people paid closer attention to the release dates though. I don't consider something coming out in paperback a 2011 release if the hardback came out in 2010.
You'll never win in the end. I am still trying to figure out how Twilight showed up on my hunks in history list :/

It may be a little bit of a stretch but he technically fits the category.

Thanks for that.
Very interesting thread girls, gives me lots of ideas for books to read and something entirely new.Every time i see a vampire book i want to throw up!!So most of these books haven't been released yet?
Emmm...maybe I'm gonna get stick for this...but should this list not be called "Historical Fiction for women 2011"? Its very feminine isn't it?
I discovered historical fiction in 2010 and I'm excited to have so many people who also love the genre. I refuse to read Twilight, anything that describes the main character as 'shimery' has lost all appeal.
GREAT LIST!!!!! Probably one of The best!Hey, have you noticed most of historical-fiction writers are women?? Cool (;

This new reader appreciates the list and the effort, I don't care when the book was published. It gives new readers lots of suggestions and places to start. ....I am so in love with Diana gabaldons books though....can't wait for the next one......
Susanna wrote: "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan came out in 2005; so what is it doing on this list?"It does seem very odd, and it shouldn't be there. It isn't as though a new edition is coming or that the book went out of print.

I agree. There are plenty of other lists (including for historical fiction as such, not historical fiction specifically released in 2011) where this book rightly belongs -- and usually can already be found. There should be SOME adherence to list criteria at least, else why have them at all?
ETA: Ditto Allende's "Island Beneath the Sea" and Moran's "Cleopatra's Daughter" (both published in 2009).
Great list -- thank you for all the effort that you took to compose it!! I have read a few of the suggestions that were put forward here and I am thrilled. Cheers!
There are even two lists on this already -- in addition to "Dude Where's my Forehead," there is also Lobstergirl's "Headless Women" ... and right it is, too, that the phenomenon is getting that much attention!
Hannah wrote: "Cleopatra's Daughter was first released in 2009. Not sure if this was brought up yet?"Yep -- see post #26. Deleted both (again, if memory serves ...)
