What an Odd Thing to Read About! (179 books)

Non-fiction books about things you never thought you'd read about, from pooping on a spaceship (Mary Roach's Packing For Mars) to life with pet pigs (Oink by Matt Whyman). Memoirs and personal essay collections are OK, as long as they are about a particular thing (object, animal, etc.) that you never thought you'd be reading about. Imaginary things, like gods (all religions!), ghosts, vampires and werewolves, do not count, not matter how they are marketed (i.e., even if they are marketed as non-fiction), unless the book is about the current culture/research/etc. about these things (similar to Mary Roach's Spook and Barbara Ehrenreich's Bright-Sided).
