There are a couple displaying the incorrect edition (eg The Turkish Embassy Letters, should be the Penguin Great Journeys edition titled Life on the Golden Horn, which is an excerpt. Also The Shadow of the Sun shown is actually the full book, and should be the Penguin great Journeys Edition titles The Cobra's Heart which is an excerpt.)I could add the correct ones, but don't want to remove the votes already up... any way to fix this?

This list had been created as a series, which was really an imprint, so I converted it to this listopia. I'm glad others have taken an interest in it.
These books are great, but I have only tracked down 10 or so.Sorry I just noticed one more - Adventures in the Unknown Interior of America Should be this one: The Shipwrecked Men, or one of the other editions! I am sure that one was correct last time I checked!

Got it - let me know if you see any others!
I think as people combine or separate editions Listopia goes a bit sideways sometimes. People often combine the excerpts with the original book, which is not correct... if I get the motivation I will re-separate them some time... and if they stay separated they will be fine!Cheers
Thanks for this list! As I recall, only ten of these were published in the US. For the remainder I had to scour the internet but I'm glad I did. It was a clever idea for a series, and the variations on the design for each volume are ingenious. The best part is that these books, being extracts, tempt you into into classic works of rarely-read writers. Here's another version of the list in the “right” order: https://www.librarything.com/publishe...
Most of the authors are listed first, last but I see two that are mixed up and also have typos: it should be Alexander von Humboldt and Henry WALTER Bates. Otherwise it's a great list and I want to read them all!
Fixed, will take a while to sort thru. They were not like this previously, someone has changed them out from the correct authors. GR has had loads of erroneous books loaded lately. The database is really getting loose with doubled up editions that Amazon keeps loading. Very unstable.Bibliobites wrote: "Most of the authors are listed first, last but I see two that are mixed up and also have typos: it should be Alexander von Humboldt and Henry WALTER Bates.
