Hmm. I can think of several Holmes mysteries featuring letters, and at least two movies where stamps figure as part of the plot or the solution ("Sherlock Holmes in Washington" and the German "Der Mann, der Sherlock Holmes war") -- and I, too, have the ghost of a "Holmes and philately" story hovering somewhere in the back of my mind. But so far I'm drawing a blank!
There's a play called Mauritius, which has something about the Inverted Jenny in it, apparently (haven't read it myself).
I also remember a children's book entitled "(somebody) and the blue Mauritius" ("(...) und die blaue Mauritius"), or something of the sort. But I'm darned if I can find it -- or rediscover the author -- in the GR database!
It might have been, though reading the plot summary on Amazon doesn't ring any bells (not that that says a lot about anything except the size of the Swiss cheese holes in my brain). Wouldn't it be funny, though, if there were TWO children's books with that title?!
