,

Ok gang, you know what I'm talking about here. Those trashy books that you're ashamed to admit you really got into - nay, that you actually LOVED!

But why stop with trashy novels when there's all those sleazy movie stars tell all books to vote for? So go ahead and add all those books about trashy actors/rock stars/ anyone in the entertainment field and let the world know what bad taste you have!

So gather your courage and admit to reading certain books that are so trashy you couldn't put it down. I dare you!

``Laurie That's right, I gave Flowers in the Attic 5 stars and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

message 2: by ``Laurie (new)

``Laurie But doesn't it feel good to get that off your chest Maggie?

message 3: by Lauri (new)

Lauri I read a lot of them, too. I think some people may have misinterpreted the theme. How did Pillars of the Earth make it onto this list?

message 4: by ``Laurie (new)

``Laurie Hi Lauri, I read Pillars of the Earth and in my humble opinion it was pure trash but feel free to disagree.

message 5: by ``Laurie (new)

``Laurie Hmmm, "Savage Surrender"? That title promises a book filled with pure trash! Y'all keep up the good work :D

message 6: by ``Laurie (new)

``Laurie Just reading the synopsis of these trashy books has me howling with laughter.

message 7: by MomToKippy (new)

MomToKippy Can't help much here. I have read only one book on this list and I wouldn't even call it trashy. (-:

message 8: by ``Laurie (new)

``Laurie At least you tried Kippy :D

Maybe you'll think of something to add later.

You're a jewel Terelyn - how could I forget Amber?
Keep up the good work!

message 11: by ``Laurie (new)

``Laurie Almost 2 full pages of trash so far, can we make it to 3 pages?
Keep up the good work and don't forget to check back and vote for the newly added Best Trashy Novels!

I'm sure Forever Amber deserved a lot more votes than one...

message 12: by MomToKippy (new)

MomToKippy You are funny Laurie! How do I reconcile "best" and "trashy"? are we looking for the most trashy novel or a trashy novel that is actually good? (-:

message 13: by ``Laurie (last edited Feb 11, 2016 02:07PM) (new)

``Laurie Thanks Gita, I think if it's trashy it belongs on this list so don't hesitate to add any 1 star trash you could barely finish. If it's that darn trashy discerning readers everywhere should be warned before potentially wasting money on it.

So don't be shy about discussing whether certain books were trash or not either as a few might be open to discussion. My trash might not be the same as your trash in other words.

Who can deny that Forever Amber was so much fun to read but was it really edifying in any way? Other than great coverage of the bubonic plague Forever Amber has to be in the top 10 of Best Trashy Books.

message 14: by ``Laurie (new)

``Laurie Ding! Ding! Ding! we have a winner with Here Kitty, Kitty.
I nearly died laughing reading this synopsis. Please tell me nobody actually forked over their hard earned money to read this trash :D

Yeah, I read the synopsis. It sounds so awful I almost want to order it. Almost. :-)

message 17: by ``Laurie (new)

``Laurie I'm in need of a laugh, dare I admit I'm almost tempted to read this one? j/k

You are right but did anyone add Peyton Place? I never read it but I think its probably number one for trash from what I heard. I don't think Twilight is trashy as there is no bad language and they behave themselves which you can't say for the protagonists of most trashy novels. Most of them are very naughty.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Haven't read it, so I didn't add it.

``Laurie Thanks Emily :D

Rosa What defines a "trashy book?" Help me, ladies, I'm just a girl, naive in the ways of the publishing world.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Odd to see some of the books on this list. My definition of 'trashy' is 'of inferior quality' but it seems many others go for 'indecent', which, in my opinion, none of the titles I noticed are, by the way.

Although the one doesn't necessarily exclude the other, of course.

@Rosa
Seems you have a choice here :-)

Ah Rosa, the main aim I had in mind for this list was to let all the voters share the laughter whilst admitting they had been tempted to read a few of these hilarious titles and mostly ridiculous synopsis's .

You will notice I named my list The Best Trashy novels. So if you consider a book trashy, feel free to add it whether good or bad trashy in your opinion.

Even "Pillars of the Earth" was trashy to a few people although the author is much esteemed.

So I hope you enjoyed yourself whilst voting on my list :D

I just found your email so I'm so sorry for being so late replying to it.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads "Disco Bloodbath"? That is one hell of a title.

message 30: by ``Laurie (new)

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) I said it before but I'll say it again: In my opinion, 'trashy' is not the same as 'indecent'....

message 34: by Loretta (last edited Oct 03, 2023 07:07AM) (new)

Loretta I don’t read “trashy” books. Just not my thing. Based on this list of books though I did read Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews and it was just plain creepy.

Yes it was, but I just couldn't help turning page after page. No redeeming qualities, pure trash.

Whoa! I hate to admit it but I would probably have to read this one.
